Maternal Support Services

Take the

First Steps

Toward a Healthy

Life for You and

Your Baby...

What is Maternity Support Services (MSS)?

MSS is here to help pregnant women get the healthcare and social services they may need to be a healthy mom and to have a healthy baby. This program offers you the Maternity Support Services interdisciplinary team: Psychosocial worker (counselor), Public Health Nurse, Nutritionist, Community Health Representative and WIC support. You can learn more about resources in your community. This healthcare team will provide wrap-around support services during your pregnancy and following.

MSS even offers child care and transportation services when you go for your prenatal care visits. These checkups are vital for a healthy pregnancy.

MSS Services:

  Social Work

Child birth education & Family Planning services when your prepregnancy ends

  Medical care for your newborn

Transportation to medical appointments & child care while at medical appointments

When is MSS available?

MSS is available to you as soon as you know you are pregnant. Services begin during your pregnancy and continue until your baby is two months old. For families with special needs, these services last until your baby’s first birthday. Getting good prenatal care as early as possible is good for you and your baby.

Who is eligible for MSS/First Steps
